Overview:

Broussard Communications is looking for a dynamic PR & Social Media Specialist to provide day-to-day public relations and social media support, including PR writing, media pitching, social media strategy and management, press kit management, media tracking and reporting, in addition to assisting with special events, photo shoots and TV appearances. The ideal candidate is a creative and curious food and wine lover, organized team player and stellar writer. This position is currently 100% remote and virtual (outside of on-site media or client events, of course).

PR & Social Media Specialist Description:

  • Writing, including drafting press releases, media pitches, and social media posts

  • Writing, building, and distributing client newsletters through platforms like MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.

  • Managing editorial calendar and monitor lead generation services, pitching stories to appropriate media

  • Tracking media coverage and day-to-day client reporting 

  • Creating multi-platform marketing campaigns tailored to individual client needs.

  • Managing social media and developing strategy – on Instagram (Reels, Stories, IGTV, Live), TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook - for Broussard Communications and clients 

  • Developing and managing client PR Updates and Press Kit materials including fact sheets, clients bios, photo library 

  • Managing social media using posting platforms such as Later.com and Loomly

  • Managing Broussard Communications calendar with client and industry events, conferences and awards 

  • Maintaining and updating the Broussard Communications media list 

  • Attending and sometimes creating press events (new restaurant, hotel and winery openings, book signings, cocktail parties, industry events like Feast Portland, Nicky USA Wild About Game), assist in event production including managing RSVPs, checking in media, and driving social media campaigns 

  • Assist with local TV appearances and photo shoots 

  • Creating digital graphics for media event, and social media 

  • Posting event listings for clients 

  • Website management - primarily Squarespace 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or related degree

  • 1-3 years previous PR and/or social media experience

  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluency in social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and emerging outlets

  • An interest in food, wine, and hospitality 

  • Positive attitude, a team player 

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and diligent about follow through 

  • Graphic design experience a plus

  • Video and photography experience a plus 

  • Independent worker, and self motivated
