ABOUT BROUSSARD COMMUNICATIONS:

Broussard Communications is a boutique PR firm representing hospitality clients - restaurants, vineyards, hotels and artisan producers in the NorthWest. Founded in July 2004, and intrigued by the "story behind the story," we work closely with clients to recognize their individual needs while communicating their story as well as their brand to target audiences.

ABOUT MELISSA BROUSSARD:

Before forming Broussard Communications, Melissa spent more than 14 years in strategic marketing communications with Apple Computer. As a communications professional, Melissa develops marketing and media relations programs for clients in the food, wine and hospitality industries, as well as offers business counsel on advertising placements, menu development, web site design, and special events. Melissa also works proactively on media relations for her clients and has placed stories in national media outlets from Food & Wine Magazine, Wall St. Journal, Bon Appétit, Splendid Table Radio show, Martha Stewart TV show, Bravo's Top Chef to Food Network Iron Chef America as well as local and regional outlets including Portland Monthly Magazine, The Oregonian, KINK Radio, Portland Business Journal and Sunset Magazine.

As the brand manager for the Powerbook Group at Apple, Melissa was responsible for international marketing for Powerbook -- a $2 billion business. She also led the global Product Introduction Group prior to Powerbook Group. A fifth generation San Franciscan, Melissa earned a BSIE degree in Engineering from California Polytechnic State University and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara. Melissa has been active in the Portland community serving on the board of the Oregon Ballet Theatre for six years, as well as assisting White Bird Dance Company and the Trey McIntyre Project with special events and communications strategies. She lives with her family in Portland.

ABOUT jordan culberson:

Jordan Culberson brings over six years of diverse communications experience, with an emphasis on food and beverage, lifestyle, travel and hospitality. Jordan comes to Broussard Communications after managing PR for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ seven restaurants in Washington, D.C. Prior to her experience with Kimpton, Jordan worked with ThreeLockhartsPR, a Washington, D.C. based PR firm, where she provided PR support and management for brands and restaurateurs including Shake Shack, Capella Hotels and Resorts and STARR Restaurants. She specializes in media relations, PR planning, chef launches, restaurant opening strategy, events, partnerships, social media and crisis communications.

Jordan obtained her BA in Journalism from the University of Alabama (roll tide!), serving as a staff reporter for Alabama Public Radio during her time in the south. A native of Washington, D.C. by way of the U.S. Virgin Islands and the shores of Lake Superior, Jordan is an avid traveler, runner, wine enthusiast and supporter of the arts. Jordan lives in Portland with her husband and adopted dog Georgia.

ABOUT JOsephine Lacosta:

Growing up in and around the Tri-state area, Josephine LaCosta joins the Broussard Communications internship with a strong background in food.  Both cooking and restaurant appreciation were common past times in Josephine’s household growing up and she developed a passion for renowned New York establishments at an early age.  Curious to see what the rest of the world had to offer, Josephine traveled abroad to England.  There, she learned to work with the wholesome produce and livestock that the English countryside had to offer, furthering her passion for cooking and sourcing a delicious meal. 

Josephine then went on to attain her BA in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD and Santa Fe, NM.   Afterwards, she dove into a culinary career beginning at Vin 909 Winecafe in Annapolis.  She traveled across the country to Portland, OR where she found OX Restaurant, her place of employment as a line cook for over a year.  Josephine brings this diverse background in restaurant experience and food service to Broussard Communications with hopes to further her knowledge of food public relations in the Portland area.
