Overview:

Broussard Communications is looking for a dynamic Publicist to provide day-to-day public relations support, including PR writing, media pitching, press kit management, media tracking and reporting, social media management, in addition to assisting with special events, photo shoots and TV appearances. The ideal candidate is a creative and curious food-lover, organized team player, and stellar writer. This position is currently 100% remote and virtual (outside of on-site media or client events, of course).


Publicist Description:

  • Writing, including drafting press releases, media pitches, and social media posts

  • Writing, building, and distributing client newsletters through platforms like MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.

  • Attending client meetings, understanding client objectives, providing tailored marketing guidance, and tracking action items from meetings

  • Pitching stories to appropriate media, responding to media requests, and vetting media inquiries.

  • Monitoring editorial calendars and lead generation services for client story opportunities

  • Tracking media coverage and day-to-day client reporting 

  • Managing social media – Instagram, Twitter, Facebook - for Broussard Communications and clients 

  • Developing and managing client PR Updates and Press Kit materials including fact sheets, clients bios, photo library 

  • Creating multi-channel communications strategies and campaigns

  • Managing Broussard Communications calendar with client and industry events, conferences and awards 

  • Maintaining and updating the Broussard Communications media list 

  • Attending press events (new restaurant openings, book signings, cocktail parties), assist in event production including managing RSVPs, checking in media, and driving social media campaigns 

  • Assisting clients with local TV appearances and photo shoots 

  • Creating graphics for media events, and social media 

  • Event listings for clients 

  • Website management 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or related degree

  • 3+ years previous PR experience

  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluency in social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and emerging outlets

  • An interest in food, wine, and hospitality 

  • Positive attitude, a team player 

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and diligent about follow through 

  • Graphic design experience a plus

  • Video and photography experience a plus 

  • Independent worker, and self motivated
