Overview:
Broussard Communications is looking for a PR Coordinator to provide day-to-day public relations support, including PR writing, media pitching, press materials management, media tracking and reporting, social media management, in addition to assisting with special events, photo shoots and TV appearances. The ideal candidate is a curious food-lover, an organized team player, who also happens to be a stellar writer.

PR Coordinator Description:

  • PR writing, including drafting press releases surrounding special events and holidays, and media pitches

  • Write, build, and distribute client newsletters, through platforms like MailChimp, Fishbowl, etc.

  • Reporting media clippings to clients

  • Keeping Broussard Communications and client websites current

  • Track opportunities through outlets like HARO (help a reporter out), research and pitch Broussard Communications clients

  • Attend press events (new restaurant openings, book signings, cocktail parties) managing RSVPs, checking in media, and driving social media during and post event

  • Assist with local TV appearances – ensure client is media trained, provide talking points and logistical info to client, provide background info to TV producer, attend with client, promote on social media

  • Creating graphic invites for media and industry events

  • Manage social media – Instagram, Twitter,  Facebook for Broussard Communications and clients

  • Helping to manage assets and materials including client PR Updates, fact sheets, clients bios, and databases like DropBox

  • Event listing for clients

  • Manage Broussard Communications calendar with client and industry events

  • Media research – managing editorial calendars, brainstorming creative PR opportunities surrounding industry trends, keeping media and blogger contact lists up to date

  • Assist with some additional administrative duties as needed

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or related degree

  • 1-3 year’s experience working at a public relations agency

  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluency in social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and emerging outlets

  • An interest in food, and larger culinary trends in Portland and beyond

  • Positive attitude, a team player

  • Detail-oriented, able to organize, analyze and prioritize information

  • CSS & HTML knowledge and graphic design experience

  • Extremely hard working, ready to learn

  • Quick to respond to requests and extremely diligent about follow through

  • Independent worker, and self motivated
